WheelTug drastically reduces pollution in a number of ways:
- We enable aircraft to operate on the ground without their engines for what is
traditionally the most inefficient part of every flight: ground taxi. This can cut
over one million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per year for each 737-800 with
WheelTug installed.
- We eliminate the need for tugs, which are often significant polluters. The use of
WheelTug can cut total ground service vehicle particulate and nitrogen oxide emissions
by over 20% while cutting carbon dioxide emissions by over 10%.
- Longer term, through modified ground operations, we can reduce the need for a
variety of ground service vehicles.
Taken together, these improvements can
sharply cut ground pollution, carbon dioxide emissions and noise. This can yield
significant benefits to airlines and airports struggling to meet increasingly stringent
regulatory emissions requirements.
